Clearing the Start/Run History (public web browser)

Each time you "thaw" or unsecure a public web PC for maintenance, you should clear the Start/Run History. This will prevent the public from finding commands in the history that we don't necessarily want them to find! It is recommended to clear the history just before the computer is "Frozen" or secured again. Julie has written up some instructions [pdf] on how to do this, so take a look and remember to follow the steps the next time you work on a public web PC.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact Julie or Dave.

Doodle

Doodle is a fantastic web app that allows you to create polls to send out to the participants you want to hear from. You simply:

It's incredibly easy to use and is great for scheduling meetings, especially if the people involved aren't physically in your facility and particularly easy to contact. Here's a screen shot of a sample poll:

Doodle sumarizes your results to let you know what the best option is based on your poll results. You can be emailed each time someone responds to the poll, so you don't have to keep checking and wondering if anyone has responded yet. People have even gotten more creative with Doodle and have used it for polling people on lunch choices or locations, so it is only limited by your creativity! Best of all, it's FREE. Enjoy!

(Confessions of the middle-class and not-so-famous...) At any rate, there's a really cool tool called Ta-da List for all of the list-addicted people like me. You can:

Just like Doodle, it's FREE. And it's FUN. Give it a try and see what you think. I'm going to go check off "Write and post May Tidbits" on my list. Woohoo!
