Tidbits
More on the new Internet Explorer
In the December 2006 issue of Tidbits, I focused on Internet Explorer 7 and its ins and outs. One of the things I don't like about it is that the Menu Bar is no longer easily accessible. Or so I thought! Today I stumbled on a little tip that brings the Menu Bar back. Here's how:
- For temporary access to the Menu Bar, simply hit the ALT key on your keyboard.
The Menu Bar will appear, and you can use the options as usual. When you click on another part of the window, the Menu Bar will disappear. - For permanent access to the Menu Bar, click on the TOOLS button on the top right side of the window and click on MENU BAR.
Access to things like Internet Options, Toolbars, and Pop-up Blocker controls return where you used to have it (more or less). Whew!
Keyboard shortcuts in Excel
What?! MORE keyboard shortcuts?! Yup! I just can't help myself. You never know when the Excel geeks of the world might need something to make their day, so here goes. This one's for you, Rick!

| format your current selection as currency | CONTROL + $ |
| format your current selection as a percentage | CONTROL + % |
| repeat your last action | F4 |
| hide and unhide rows | CONTROL + 9 and CONTROL + SHIFT + 9 |
| hide and unhide columns | CONTROL + 0 and CONTROL + SHIFT + 0 |
| adjust zoom | CONTROL + scroll wheel on mouse |
