Display text vertically in a cell (MS Excel)

This is for all of you Excel geeks who actually have time to make a worksheet look nice as opposed to just functional.

Some table layouts might benefit from having captions displayed vertically, especially if you have one row label caption that could apply to several adjacent rows. This could save you room if you're having difficulty fitting your table on one printed page. To display text vertically in a cell, follow these steps:

You may need to merge some cells together to have the text span across them and display correctly. Here's how to merge cells:

You can then go to FORMAT > CELLS to change how the text is aligned within your newly merged cells.

Here is a very crude example of how vertical text in merged cells would look:

Is that really an email from Microsoft? Be careful!

From Element K Journals:

"In recent months, hackers have been using fake emails saying they're from Microsoft. These emails warn the recipients that their computers are at risk by some terrible security problem and urge them to download a file to fix it. Of course, this file is a virus or some sort of malicious code, and before the unsuspecting recipients know it, they've been infected. Microsoft has released a guide to verifying if a Microsoft security-related message is legitimate at www.microsoft.com/security/antivirus/authenticate_mail.asp. If you've gotten these messages before, it's a good idea to check out this guide so you're better able to judge the validity of any email message from Microsoft."
