This document prepared by ALA's Library Administration and Management Association is a bit old (June 2001), but remains valid. It's a good place to start for some basics on library security and is broken into sections, such as "Duty to Protect," "Adequacy of Protection," "Fire and Emergency Protection," "Physical Barrier and Lock and Key Security," etc.
