Gaming Equipment Borrowing and Use
OWLS gaming equipment is intended for library use only (e.g. tournaments and programs) and may not be circulated to the public.
Procedures
CE Librarian will maintain a gaming system reservation calendar and online inventory for requesting and tracking equipment.
Requesting the equipment
- Check the gaming equipment calendar for availability and submit equipment request form.
- The request will be confirmed or denied by the CE Librarian.
Picking up and returning the equipment
- The borrowing library is responsible for picking up and returning equipment to the OWLS office.
- Equipment can be picked up to 3 days prior to the event and must be returned within 3 days after the program.
- When picking up the equipment, the CE Librarian will supply a brief training session on how to use the system (if needed).
- OWLS will supply a parts checklist, setup sheet and a set of batteries for testing the system.
- When returning the equipment, the borrowing library will fill out a troubleshooting form and an acknowledgement that all parts of the system have been returned.
- CE Librarian will verify that all parts have been returned and will check in equipment on inventory form.
- OWLS will maintain circulation statistics for the two gaming systems as evidence to support future local library funding of game systems.
Borrowing Library Responsibilities
- Providing backup and/or additional batteries are the responsibility of the borrowing library.
- Purchase or rental of other program-related equipment (TV, projector, screen) is the responsibility of the borrowing library.
- The library should plan to have a knowledgeable gamer available to assist with the program.
