Just Dreaming...

Aaron Schmidt recently posted on his blog, Walking Paper, about a visit to the public library in Hjorring, Denmark. The aesthetics of this library are amazing and they are doing some pretty cool things, which is why I'm linking to Aaron's post here. Be sure to read the full post, as it includes more information and photos you won't want to miss.

One feature that really surprised me was that the library has people check in and rough sort their own materials. Here's a photo of the sorting area:

Interesting idea, no?! How much time would library staff save by implementing this idea? And how much faster would materials be available to others to check out?

Now, I know our libraries likely don't have the funds or the space to implement the kinds of things this library has done, but maybe taking a look at what they are doing might spark some ideas for small changes that might have a big impact locally.

Just dreaming about what we could do with unlimited funds, space, time ...
