Tidbits: MS Office 2007

| | Comments (1)

I came across a couple of tips this week, one on Excel and one on Word, but both on the 2007 versions of MS Office. The Excel tip explains how to show percentages with a little color without having to use a pie chart to do it. The Word tip explains how to make sure your 2007 document plays nice with earlier versions of Word.

Are any of you using Office 2007? If so, what do you think? Does it drive you crazy or make you squeal with delight (or something in between)? Post your thoughts in the comments.

Waupaca staff has been using Office 2007 since it was first released to Microsoft business partners in Oct/ Nov 2006 because of my involvement with testing it. It was download only which took all day to get- but the licensing was cheap for libraries.

Everyone likes it except that MS eliminated the Chart wizard in Excel.

I think it's easier to use the "ribbons" than the old school drop-down menus because of the ribbons graphical navigation. You can change 2007 to a dropdown menu interface but no one here has done that once they've worked with the ribbons for a couple days.

You can also save as .pdf files from within Office programs with no third party software- just a Microsoft patch.

Just my 2cents. Feel free to email me with questions.
