Internet Guides

The Best Information on the Net
This subject directory of useful Internet sites was created by the librarians at O'Keefe Library, St. Ambrose University. Take a look at their Resources for Librarians.

Great Web Sites for Kids
Great Sites provides links to materials for "kids and the adults who care about them."

Infomine
This list of resources was made with an academic library in mind, however, many of the resources listed may be helpful in a public library also.

Minneapolis Public Library--Subject List of Internet Resources
You'll find a wide variety of interesting sites listed here; many specific to Minnesota & the Twin Cities area, but many for any Internet user as well.

The Scout Report
The Computer Sciences Department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison searches the WWW for valuable resources and publishes this weekly report of what they find. This is a great way to keep up on what's new and useful without having to spend a lot of time hunting it down yourself.

ORE on the Web
From the Ohio Library Council. This site includes web-based training for reference service. Start with Module 1 and see what you think!

Reference Guidelines
From ALA, this page includes guidelines for electronic services, genealogy, ILL, reference/information services, and services to different user populations.

STAR Reference Manual
From the Nebraska Library Commission. STAR stands for "Statewide Training for Accurate Reference." Each topic in the contents includes several points to consider with a major point highlighted. Good things to think about!
